AMGs Case Studies

The Guardian Series equipment can be configured for add drop and pass networks. Because of the digital transmission technology the transmitted signal can be repeated effectively indefinitely without any loss of signal quality. Thus for cameras distributed over large distances the Guardian Series equipment is ideal for collecting them and bringing them back to one or more control rooms.

Any number of Guardian units can be connected in a 'Daisy Chain' manner.

Camera signals are collected from each node and tranmsitted onward to the control room. Upto 20 camera channels can be transmitted easily on each fibre using the two wavelengths of 1310nm and 1550nm.It is possible to transmit up to 320 channels using DWDM technology.

The camera signals can be 'dropped off' at any location.

Each Guardian unit has within it a full cross-point switch. Using this facility allows any number of cameras to be connected to the network. Only the signals selected will be transmitted. The selection can be done using either AMG's MUXcom software or using a third party control system. This removes the need for any large matrix switch at the control room.

The switching facility also allows selection of which camera signals are 'dropped off' and where.
