Ring Network CWDMThe Guardian™ 2800 Series is specifically designed for fibre ring applications. Any number of locations can be used for the placement of surveillance cameras and/or for monitoring those cameras. In addition any location can be used to either send and receive auxillary signals, either data or audio. Video, data and audio signals can be sent from anywhere in the system and retrieved from anywhere in the system.

With completely digital transmission, there is none of the signal degredation associated with analogue transmission systems. As many repeater locations as necessary can be added with no video signal degredation. The example here shows five locations, but as many locations as required may be added into the loop.

Ease of Operation Control and Remote Monitoring for Servicing

Switching and Control
After installation, a PC is connected to one of the Guardian™ 2800 units to configure the system. The AMG Configuration software tells the netwrok where each camera or monitor is connected. Once this is complete, the system can be controlled at any location using any of the standard CCTV controllers.

The Guardian™ 2800 system performs the necessary video switching and routing required to connect the right camera, through the network, to the correct monitor. External matrix switching is not required. As many control locations as required can be accommodated within the system.

Maintainance and Monitoring
MUXcomm software running on a PC connected to any unit on the network allows all equipment within the network to be monitored. Using a modem or via a private network the Guardian™ 2800 system can be monitored from any remote location. Click here for more information.

When 10 channels are not enough

The Guardian™ 2800 system is not limited to 10 channels. If more than 10 channels need to be viewed simultaneously at any one time, a second ring or more is required. This can be implemented by adding additional fibre cores to the system or if this is not possible, 2 optical rings can be accomodated on one fibre using both 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths. The example here shows how this can be done using the AMG2850 dual WDM coupler.

Dense Wavelength Domain Multiplexed, DWDM, lasers within the 1550nm band allow up to 16 optical channels to be transmitted along a single fibre. This allows up to 160 video signals to be viewed simultaneously.

Fail Safe Operation Enhances System Reliability

The Guardian™ 2800 System is designed to be safe and reliable. If there is a problem at one location an optical bypass switch can be used to bypass this node.

The Guardian™ 2800 is a highly flexible system. At its heart are the two banks of video cards. Each bank can accomodate up to 10 video input cards or video output cards. As well as the video banks, there are also two auxillary signal banks. Each of these auxillary signal banks can accomodate 5 bi-directional interface cards. The specific interface can be chosen from a wide variety of standard audio or data interfaces including line level audio, RS232, RS485, RS422, TTL,20mA current loop. Click here for more information
